Welcome to my latest scratch build. This is a pod and boom design using foam board and a carbon arrow shaft for the fuselage construction.
It’s a 4 channel 1.2m wingspan using a double step KF airfoil with a nine inch chord operating rudder, elevator, ailerons and motor control. It uses the Tower Pro 9 gram plastic gear servos.
The back wing and rudder are replaceable and servos are held in place with double sided foam tape. Battery compartment has room enough for a variety of battery sizes and the CG is maintained by securing the battery forward or aft, as desired and required to maintain stability.
Engine mount is a slip in/slip out design and variable in position to handle a different motor size and/or propeller dimensions. Current power plant is a 2212/16T 2200kv spinning a 6×4 apc propeller.
The plane has an all up weight of about 900 grams fully laden and ready to fly – a bit heavier than planned so there’s room for improvement with other designs down the track. Maiden flight to follow in another video and hopefully with some fantastic success. Enjoy!
