This is a video documents the restoration and exploration of the design and construction of a Realistic (a Radio Shack brand name) cassette tape recorder – with a difference. This cassette tape recorder features a VSC – Variable Speech Control circuit to speed up playback while avoiding the “chipmunk” sound that would ensure.

How did they do it? You’ll have to watch the video to find out! This video also documents that this was a restoration for a client. ClydeSight Productions does not own the machine and it is back in the client’s hands. Therefore, I cannot answer any questions about it that are not already covered in the video.
