This video describes the design and production of a new Jig for cutting multi sided shapes on the band saw. Shaped projects such as 6 & 8 sided discs, cylinders and even pyramid shaped projects were created with this new jig. This new jig is comprised of two components – an L bracket support plate and a series of pattern discs. To use this system, a wood block is attached to the selected pattern disc with double sided tape and attached to the L-bracket support using the ¼” shoulder bolt. A 1/8” diameter pin is then slid into one of the holes in the L-Bracket support and then through the various 1/8” holes in the Pattern disc. This pin will hold the block in place at the required angle while it is cut on the band saw. After each side is cut, the pin is advanced to the next hole in the pattern disc and the next angled side is cut. This process is continued until all the sides have been cut.
This video describes the design and manufacture of the Multi Angle Cutting Jig and then shows it application in cutting a variety of 6, 8 and 10 sided shapes including round discs, multi-sided cylinders, and cutting multiple angled cuts on discs and cylinders.
This Multi Angle Cutting Jig is a prototype system and is not currently commercially available.
