The question of the day is: Is this the best way to seal seams on foam board insulation? For my money I would have to say yes. Trying to insulate a timber frame means there are a lot of small spaces to stuff the foam board into and that means there is a lot of cutting of foam board. That also means that you will end up with a fair amount of seams and edges to seal up. You could use tape that will most likely come off at some point in time with moisture and temperature swings, you can negate that by using a quality tape and that can be expensive. A can of spray foam costs around $5 USD here and a little goes a long way, plus it is very easy to do. You folks who are regular viewers here know I don’t like to come off as an authority on things but this method really works well for me and it might work well for you. On another note, my woodshop is getting warmer with every piece of foam board that goes up. I was actually sweating tonight working out there. Hope you enjoy it and I’ll catch you on the next one.
