Flexired heating tapes are very flexible and well suited adoptable with easy installation
when installing flexired heating tape, it must be wrapped precisely making full contact with the surface to be heated.
Keep in mind that flexired heating is not self-regulating and requires the use of a temperature controller.
It also cannot be cut to length or terminated in the field so it must be ordered as specific lengths
Heating cable appears more like standard two – conductor electrical wiring cable but is not nearly as flexible as flexired heating tapes
In heating cables
There are two varieties : self – regulating or constant wattage.
Self –regulating heating cable does just what its name suggest
As the outside temperature drops the resistance of carbon – plastic inner core decrease
Allowing more power to be applied across the inner bus wires
Which in turn produce more heat along the entire length of the cables
Constant wattage heating cable does not control its own temperature
It’s always “on” therefore an external controller/ thermostat must be used to control the amount of heat it produces
A typical constant wattage heating cable has insulated bus wires at its core
An inner jacket & a nichrome wires wrap
A flame retardant insulating jackets and metal braid to provide a positive ground path
An finely protect outer jacket
The nichrome wire is the heating element, making contact with the bus wires through cutaways in the inner jacket.
Causing the nichrome wire to heat up.
Constant wattage heating cable is available for higher temperatures ranging up to 1500 c
These can also be used on voltages 230 in single phase
Lesser voltage will produce lesser heat
