This is a proto type EMI (electro-magnetic interference) hum eliminator. When a guitar is too close to an amp, the guitar pickups and the amp’s power transformer connect electromagnetically and the power transformer transmits 60Hz into the guitar (or bass in this case) which is amplified by the amp.
I take the signal out of the guitar cable and feed it to a transformer with a center tap to invert the 60Hz hum and then use a mixer to adjust the amplitude and mix it in with original guitar signal. This is noise canceling. I still need to work on refining the design, but the concept works fairly well. I want to get this designed to work so that the musician has to make very few adjustments.
